The size question in footwear
Sizing is the biggest footwear question and 3D will not fix it. What it can show is shape: the profile, how thick the sole is and how the colour blocks sit, from every side. Shoes are one of the harder categories for photo-based 3D, so we treat footwear as a pilot: send us a pair and we will say honestly whether it works.
What shoppers cannot see today
- Profile and sole thickness decide the look, and neither is in a standard three-quarter shot.
Capturing footwear well
- Deep interiors (the inside of the shoe) will read as closed; shoot extra angles if it matters.
- Patent and metallic finishes are the difficult ones. Matte uppers reconstruct cleanly.
